PER CLICK PROGRAM TIPS

Great, you’re going after some Google clicks with an affiliate per click program. But what happens when you get 10,000 ad impressions and only 1 click? Don’t worry, this is not totally uncommon. It simply means that you need to refocus your efforts on your click through rate or CTR.

One of the greatest tips that I can give for improving click through rates in affiliate per click programs is ad coloring. In Google Adsense, this is relatively easy to do. They key for you is to find colors that blend in with your website. I highly recommend avoiding all of the preset Google templates unless you have a good match. That said, I would start formatting your colors by clicking on the Google template “Open Air.” Use this format to begin customizing your ads with colors from your site. The key with open air is that it does not have any borders. The idea is to blend the ad in with the background of the website (no borders).

There has been a lot of research done on webpage “heat zones” which help us to find out where on a webpage that people actually look and hence – click your ads. You can do some Google researching to find out more about this. Needless to say that placement is key for your cpc ads (or any affiliate ad for that matter). Google, usually, serves the highest paying ads to your website first (generally at the top). It is highly recommended that these are placed within the screen view without scrolling. Affiliate per click ads embedded within large amounts of text usually work well. I like using the 250x250 or 200x200 ad blocks for this purpose. Also when using articles or text in your website, you may want to have users read your entire article and then click on the Google or other affiliate cpc advertisement. This can work well if they are not also offered other alternatives. For example, you should avoid using “next article” or “previous articles” or “similar articles” at the bottom of your page if you also hope that the reader will click on your ad at that point.

It is extremely important that affiliate per click program strategy is a trial and error process. You need to carefully study when you get a large amount of clicks and under what cpc ad configuration that you are using. There is no cure all or perfect strategy for this. While there are certainly best practices you should know about as an affiliate per click publisher, nothing works for every site.
